It's AWESOME to grow your network on LinkedIn, but it can be hard for people who have been in the industry for a while to sort through requests. This has become more obvious to me as I balance freelance, the Sports Jobs newsletter and a lot of informational requests.

Before sending a request to connect, consider: (1) Following the person instead. Then, start interacting with their content. Eventually, it might make more sense to connect with them once you understand their brand better. OR (2) Including a one-to-two-sentence intro in your connection request. Let us know why you want to connect! It makes the "accept" button much easier to click.

Overall, I WANT to connect with new people in the industry. I want to hire you one day, or better yet, I want you to be my boss or client one day. However, a little goes a long way!
