Sports Jobs — 04/29/24

Anyone who follows me on social knows that I don’t shut up about running. (It’s annoying, but at least I’m self-aware lol.) It’s a habit and a hobby I picked up more seriously in the last year.

And I’ve put in the work. I still won’t win any races or anything, but I’ve knocked 13+ minutes off my half marathon in a year and ran my last half 33 minutes faster than my first one ~10 years ago.

I’ve totaled ~1,500 miles in the last 16 months, and my improvement only comes from putting in the work every day even when no one is watching. Sure, PRs during races are great, but the daily workouts and runs are not very glamorous. I believe this mentality applies to many different aspects of life, including work and searching for jobs.

It’s easy to see the flashes of success — new jobs, promotions etc. — but it only comes when you’re putting in the hard, tedious work when no one is watching.

So, keep going. We’ll keep putting in the hours and then celebrate the wins together.
