Hey, everyone. Because of the U.S. holiday, I’m going to send the list of jobs tomorrow when everyone is back at their desks. However, I wanted to offer a piece of career advice I recently discussed with a colleague.

As a reminder, this newsletter operates on the ad dollars generated by people clicking on the ads. Appreciate the help in keeping Sports Jobs humming.

When I first started off in the industry, I was a chronic perfectionist. I would agonize over every decision being perfect and would often be hit by decision paralysis.

It took me years to understand that life — including my career — is not full of binary decisions.

Instead, life often looks like being faced with one choice that’s like 51% the best option and another that’s 49% right. You may never know which is which, and it’s best to just make a decision with confidence.

An example from my own life: I had two job offers. On paper, one was my absolute dream job in sports, the kind of position that made my friends super jealous, but something just didn’t seem right. The other job was a bit out of my normal scope, but I ended up taking that one. A few months later, I ended up leaving said job for full-time consulting work.

Did I make the right decision when I chose the job that I eventually ended up leaving after a few months? Maybe not, but I would have had a much harder time gaining the courage to leave if I had been at the dream job I didn’t choose.

All of that to say, there may not be a clear-cut decision as you’re job-searching, finalizing a purchasing decision at work, creating a new campaign or making one of the hundreds of micro-decisions you make every week.

Just trust yourself and the experiences that brought you to where you are today — and keep moving forward.

Thanks for reading. See you tomorrow!
